Perseverance

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

Born without arms or legs from Tetra-Amelia Syndrome. As a child he couldn’t feed himself or do anything to meet his own needs and had to rely on his parents and others for everything. Struggled terribly growing up. Considered suicide many times — and then finally at age 15, he gave up… to Christ. He had heard about the man born blind at birth and how Christ healed him and so he wanted to know more. It was then that he gave his life to God.

Nick Vujicic had persevered for 5,000 days wanting to know why he was the only person he knew who was born without arms or legs… and he has persevered the daily struggle for 10,000 more days, knowing his purpose. Nick realized he was called as an evangelist. In his first seven years of ministry, he appeared 2,000 times covering 44 countries on six continents! His goal? To have an opportunity to talk to everyone in the world about Christ. Really? That seriously is his goal. Eight billion people. He has an incredible platform and it has been estimated that he has already talked to well over a billion people. At 42 years old, he is well on his way to reaching his goal.

Perseverance — through much frustration and long suffering. His daily routine is phenomenal. I had the opportunity to meet him in 2014 while I was working with the John Maxwell Team. Such a delight — a true humble and resolved man. A Level 5 Leader in the making for sure.

You and I don’t have this huge problem stopping us from doing well in anything. When problems arise, many find themselves stuck… yet many succeed because of the issues — not in spite of but because of. The problems have strengthened them to accomplish. btw, Nick is married with four kids!

Perseverance is the #1 predictor of success in anything. Tenacity. Stick-to-it-iveness. Staying on target. Dedication, determination, endurance, grit, moxie, persistence, spunk, stamina, steadfastness, sedulity. If Nick can find his purpose and calling, we can too. “That some achieve great success, is proof to all that others can achieve it as well.” Abe Lincoln.

Pray: Lord, teach me to have perseverance and consistency. Help me hold on until I have accomplished the goal. Help me finish well!
